The Lowdown on Our 1200W Carbon Fiber Heating Lamps
We designed these 1200W lamps for those moments when you need heat—and you need it now. Most people are used to the old metal alloy filaments. We went a different route. We used carbon fiber tucked inside a quartz envelope. It might sound like a small tweak, but it completely changes how the lamp breathes and handles the pressure.
Why the power matters
At 1200W, these things put out a concentrated blast of short-wave infrared. Here is the cool part: the heat doesn’t waste time warming up the air around it. It goes straight into your materials. It’s fast. Really fast. We spent a lot of time balancing that power so the quartz tube doesn’t warp or get soft when it’s running hard. Just a heads-up, though—don’t try to overclock the voltage. If you push it past the specs, you’ll fry the filament. Simple as that.
Carbon fiber vs. the old way
Tungsten is fine, but carbon fiber is a beast. It handles higher temperatures without sagging. Because it stays put, we can keep the coil tight and neat. That means you get a steady, even glow of heat across the whole tube, no cold spots. Plus, since carbon fiber doesn’t expand and contract as violently as metal, you can flick these on and off all day without the filament snapping. The quartz glass is just there to keep the oxygen away so the fiber doesn’t burn up.
Making it work in your shop
You can plug these into most standard industrial controllers. If you’ve got old halogen tubes in a curing oven or a drying tunnel, these usually slide right in. But there are a few things to watch out for. 1200W is a lot of energy. The surface of the lamp gets searing hot the second you flip the switch. You’ll need to make sure your housing and reflectors can take that kind of heat. And please, keep the glass clean. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil can create a “hot spot,” and that’s the fastest way to crack a quartz tube. Also, give it some room to breathe. If the ventilation is bad, the heat just soaks back into the lamp, which will kill its lifespan way sooner than it should.
