Getting the most out of our 230V 1800W Quartz Carbon Heating Tubes
If you need industrial heat that kicks in fast, these carbon heating elements are your best bet. We’ve wrapped them in clear quartz glass to get a very specific kind of heat—the kind that doesn’t mess around. Because they run on a standard 230V input, they usually slide right into most European and Asian oven setups without any drama. The power behind the heat 1800W is a lot of juice. Instead of using the usual nichrome wire, we went with a carbon-based filament. Why? Because carbon hits those high heat levels without needing to get quite as scorching hot as metal. This is a big deal because it keeps the glass from cracking when the temperature jumps. Just a heads-up: make sure your wiring is up to the task. You don’t want your terminals melting because they can’t handle the current. Why we use clear quartz The quartz glass does two jobs. It keeps the carbon filament from oxidizing (which would kill the tube) and it lets short-wave infrared radiation fly straight through. The result? The heat hits your workpiece directly instead of getting trapped in the glass. But here is the tricky part:quartz is sensitive. If you touch the glass with your bare hands, the oils from your skin stay there. When the tube heats up, those oily fingerprints create “hot spots” that can crack the glass and kill the tube early. Do yourself a favor—wipe the glass down with some isopropyl alcohol before you wire it in. A few things to keep in mind These tubes are built for speed. They’ll hit your target temperature way faster than a ceramic or metal sheath heater. It’s great for productivity, but it creates a ton of heat in a very small space. If your machine’s airflow or cooling isn’t quite strong enough, you might end up cooking your own housing or reflectors. We can tweak the length and the end-caps to fit your specific jig, so just let us know what you need. And if you’re swapping out an old halogen lamp, keep an eye on your voltage. If your 230V line is jumpy, that carbon filament is going to burn out a lot faster than it should.
