
Let’s Talk About the 660mm Carbon Fiber Infrared Lamp
If you’re dealing with heavy thermal loads and you absolutely cannot afford to wait around for your equipment to warm up, this is where these lamps come in. We went with carbon fiber for the emitter because it handles resistive heating differently than those old-school metal alloys. It pushes the heat into that mid-wave range, which basically means it cuts through industrial materials a lot deeper and faster. Getting the power right At 660mm, you’ve got a lot of ground to cover. It’s a big footprint. The beauty of this is that you don’t have to mess around with daisy-chaining a bunch of tiny units together. But here’s the thing: keep an eye on your wattage. When you crank up the power at this length, you’re concentrating a massive amount of energy. If your housing isn’t rated for that kind of heat—or if your cooling fans are struggling—you’re going to fry the lamp ends way sooner than you should. The build and the “gotchas” The filament is wrapped in high-purity quartz. We do this so the infrared radiation can just slide right through without getting trapped or absorbed. As for plugging them in, we use the standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They should slide right into most industrial ovens without a fight. Just do me a favor:**check your socket tension.**If the connection is loose, you’ll get arcing, and that’ll burn out your contact points in no time. Where they actually work (and where to be careful) You’ll see these doing the heavy lifting in PET blowing, paint curing, and plastic welding. They hit their operating temperature way faster than halogen lamps, which saves you a ton of time on warm-up cycles. But there is a catch. Carbon fiber is fast, but it’s a bit more fragile than those chunky metal coils. It doesn’t love being shaken. If you’re rough with them during installation or if your machine vibrates like crazy, the filament can snap. Make sure your mounting brackets are locked down tight. Trust me, it’s much better to spend an extra five minutes securing them now than to deal with a broken lamp the second you hit the start button.
